SIZE: go a size large. I’m a size 44.5 EU, 10-10.5 US and the XL was the right size.PROTECTION: Very good for the price. Had them for a month now in Minnesota below 20F. Used with Giro EC90 shoes and medium thickness SmartWool socks. The thick neoprene was effective for over an hour down to about 18F with 10mph headwind gusting at an average speed of 15mph with light water spray and misting from tires. At slower air speeds or slightly warmer temps you could go longer and stay warm. These worked better than other covers I’ve tried at keeping the wet out. No cover I’ve ever tried especially at this price does a better job of keeping feet dry. Expect dry feet for up to 30mins in moderate spray. But then give the neoprene time to dry between rides. In a downpour you’ll still get wet feet if your commute is more than 15mins as the neoprene will slow but not stop the water from soaking through.WEIGHT: They weigh more than my thin shell covers but are several times more effective at blocking the wind and wet.EASE OF USE: Very Good. The zipper is positioned well. It doesn’t matter that it lacks a velcro over the zipper. Thought this would be an issue but there is little stress on the zipper if you get the right size. The tabs are well placed and help a lot in getting the heel over the back of your shoe. Entry is easy if you undo the velcro at the bottom and pull over the back of the shoe. Mine take about 1min each to get on or less.DURABILITY: Good. The zipper is placed forward and less likely to be accidently walked on. The Neoprene is resistant to tearing and seems of good quality. The bottoms have extra reinforcement where it matters and gorilla tape can help add some life to the toe.OVERALL: Though heavier than thin wimpy shoe covers, I have yet to find a better shoe cover at any price that can handle the transition season between thin covers and dedicated Minnesota winter riding boots. These are effective enough that they mean i don’t need to buy a set of intermediate fall riding shoes. I can use these over my existing road and mountain bike shoes until temps drop below 10F for rides up to an hour and that means they are a huge value. Thanks to the manufacturer for a good item at a great price.
